Best Water Bottles for Hiking

Best Water Bottles for Hiking | Reviews + Buyer’s Guide (2022)

We went hiking with you last summer and we had a great time, so we are excited to go hiking again this year. But we decided to do it a little different. We have come up with a list of the best water bottles for hiking. We are looking for water bottles with a decent water resistance and good durability.

How do we compare you to the competition? We have a set of water bottles, made by the same brand (if you own this one you should totally buy this one too, we don’t recommend this model). We put them against the competition and put them through a 10km hike. We didn’t try to compare these water bottles on how well they can hold a single drop of water.

Or on how many liters of water can they hold. We put them against other water bottles and tried to look at things like durability, how leak-free they were. We also took into account how much weight and the space between them, which is not an indicator of performance.

Why Should you buy these Water Bottles?

Protection

First of all, you’re going to take these water bottles with you hiking anyway. There are so many kinds of environments that you could go hiking in. We wanted to protect our investment against exposure to the elements, including water. It’s important that your water bottle is not going to fall into the bushes and expose it to UV light.

Durability

We’re not talking about $25-dollar flimsy plastic water bottles. These are made of robust metal or plastic that can last a long time. So, it doesn’t matter if you take your water bottles hiking in the mountains or the desert, you can feel secure that they are going to hold up for a long time.

Filling and Storing

Besides water resistance, you should buy something that can make you fill up quickly. Some manufacturers advertise faster filling and all that, but it’s hard to verify if the claim is true. You have to really test it out.

Portability

Since it is your travel companion, you want something that you can easily store when you are done with it. You shouldn’t have to dig through your backpack and realize you don’t have the bottles anymore. That is also one of the key features that these water bottles are designed for.

Stores

Some of the water bottles we’ve looked at, they are sort of hard to find at stores. If you are in a country that sells them in water stations, it’s fine. But, if you want to travel around the world, it might be harder to find these.

Reusing

Maybe you don’t care about having a water bottle when you are hiking, but you are actually like to reuse your water bottle, on other days, you don’t want to travel with it around. So, buying a water bottle that you can reuse isn’t a bad idea.
